ICLEI, other global city networks, and our Members are deeply saddened by the passing away of Mayor Park Won-soon and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, to the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the residents of Seoul.

As former ICLEI President and the founder of our Global Lead City Network on Sustainable Procurement, which he chaired from 2015-2018, he has been a strong advocate for global sustainable development.

The Mayor was also C40 Vice Chair, Global Covenant of Mayors Board Member, and UCLG Bureau Member. Mayor Park Won-soon has been a strong advocate for global climate action and under his leadership, Seoul has been an example to other cities around the world.
